Athan & Iqamah for iOS, watchOS, and tvOS · Last updated July 9, 2026

The short version

1. Introduction

Athan & Iqamah (formerly published as South Bay Iqamah) shows adhan and iqamah times for mosques, sends prayer reminders, and lets mosque administrators publish and manage their schedules. This policy explains what information the app handles, what stays on your device, and what is stored on our servers when you choose to create an account.

2. Using the app without an account

No account is required for the core app. In that case we do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. In particular:

3. Location

If you grant location permission, your location is used on your device only to sort nearby mosques, calculate prayer times for your area, and point the qibla compass. Your coordinates are never uploaded to our servers, and we do not track your movements or use background location.

One clarification: if you create a mosque in the app, you choose a location for that mosque, and that location becomes part of the mosque's public page. That is the mosque's address, not your personal location.

4. Optional accounts

You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address to claim or create a mosque and manage its schedule. When you do, we store on our servers:

If you sign in with an email code, the one-time code is delivered through a transactional email provider and is used for nothing else. If you set a password for the mosque admin portal, it is stored as a salted hash, never in plain text.

5. Content you publish

Mosque names, addresses, prayer schedules, and mosque pages that you publish are public by design: they are visible to anyone with the app or the mosque's share link. Please do not include personal information you would not want public in a mosque page.

6. How we use information, and what we never do

We use the information above solely to run the service: showing prayer times, authenticating you, letting the right people edit the right mosques, keeping the mosque directory accurate, and answering support requests.

7. Data retention and deletion

Signing out of the app deletes your session. Account data is kept while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated personal data with the form below (choose "Delete my account and data"); we complete deletion requests within 30 days.

Mosque schedules you published may be kept so the community it serves does not lose its prayer times, but they will no longer be linked to you. If you want the mosque itself removed too, say so in your request or delete it in the app first.

8. Security

All traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Session tokens and portal passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes. Access to the database is restricted to the service itself.

9. Children's privacy

The core app collects no personal data and is safe for all ages. Accounts exist only for managing mosque pages; we do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we will delete any such account on request.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Meaningful changes (for example, collecting a new kind of data) will also be noted in the app's release notes.

11. Contact us / delete your data

Questions about this policy, support requests, and account and data deletion requests all reach us through this form. Leave your email so we can reply.
